Saturday, November 15 - The Big Day!

We had a great turn-out and a great time crafting, cooking and serving together as sisters! We broke for a delicious home-made lunch of Beef Barley, Minestrone, and Baked-Potato soups served with scrumptious crescent rolls and topped off with an assortment of cookies for dessert!

By the end of the day we were able to finish most of our crafts, and the ones we couldn't we got a good start on! In the service department we were able to tie 7 quilts for "Blankets For Canada," sew 50 Santa Sacks for Wood's Emergency Youth Shelter, and disperse all of the tags from our Angel Tree! Well done ladies!

Projects:

Yes it has come again! We are very excited about this year's projects, and very grateful to the sisters who have come forward and volunteered their time to teach us all how to make them! Please sign-up for the crafts you would like to do on the sign-up sheets outside of the Relief Society room, and make payment to the sister teaching the class ASAP. Thanks!

1) Eye-Spy Blanket:


Taught by Sister S. Tanner: This is a really cute little quilt composed of different patches of printed fabric. This could keep a small child seemingly busy for hours as they search out the different pictures and objects found in the quilt!


2) Photo Wreath:



Taught by Sister N. Skelton: A personal touch on a Christmas favourite! This craft begins with a beautiful red berry-spray wreath which is adorned with pictures of your loved ones in small elegant metal frames!


3) Christ Binder:


Taught by Sister P. Livingstone: A wonderful tool to help one reflect upon the impact of Christmas! This binder is full of beautiful images and inspirational information about the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.


4) Chocolate Truffles:


Taught by Sister N. Wood: What's Christmas without chocolates - and homemade ones at that! Come and learn how to make your own truffles!


5) Gift Boxes:



Taught by Sister L. DeBoer: These cute little boxes will make a great package for your freshly made truffles, or for other treats to deliver to friends and/or neighbours!


6) Vinyl Lettering Projects:


Taught by Sister K. Maclennan: Returning as a popular favourite from last year, Sister Maclennan has some new, beautiful projects which would make great gifts, or additions to your home!


7) Santa Sacks:


Taught by Sister A. Metz: We would be very ungrateful indeed if we thought only of ourselves this Super-Saturday. That is why we will be continuing with our on-going annual service project sewing stockings for Wood's Homes Emergency Youth Shelter. However this year, instead of stockings we will be sewing simple santa sacks which are considerably easier to make and to stuff! We are hoping to be able to produce 50, so please lend us your willing hands and abilities to sew a straight line when you have a chance! We will be looking for donations of any type of Christmas fabric which can either be brought to Super Saturday, or dropped off early with Sister A. Metz.


7) Angel Tree:


We will also be displaying a tree with special angel decorations. Each angel will display the age and gender of an anonymous child in our ward who stands in need of a Christmas gift this year.
Please find it in your heart to take one of these angels home and purchase an appropriate gift for them. (Information about when and where gifts are to be delivered will be announced later)


Hopefully, everyone will be able to find something that they would like to do! Most importantly come and join in an atmosphere of sisterhood as we work together, and taste the upcoming Christmas season!
